Tetsujin Hamono

Tetsujin Hamono is a renowned Japanese knife-making workshop, founded by blacksmith Toru Tamura and sharpener Naohito Myojin. The duo started Tetsujin Hamono in the late 2010s and have since been crafting world-class blades. Together, Tamura and Myojin create knives that are not only functional but also embody the spirit of Japanese craftsmanship.

Toru Tamura, the blacksmith at Tetsujin, has a unique journey. He once worked at Knifewear and was one of their first-ever employees. After his stint in Canada, he returned to Japan with the ambition of becoming a blacksmith. He apprenticed under the legendary Hiroshi Kato in Takefu Knife Village and later under Shimizu-san, learning to make traditional single-bevel knives. This dual apprenticeship has made him adept at forging both double-bevel and single-bevel blades, a rare skill among Japanese blacksmiths.

Naohito Myojin, the sharpener at Tetsujin, was born into a family that owns Myojin Riki Seisakusho, a business that sharpens knives forged elsewhere. He officially started working as a knife sharpener at the age of 18. After several years, he apprenticed under a famous master sharpener in Echizen, where he honed his skills.
